When I bought the mycloud device, I though its speed would be as normal as that of accessing such other cloud applications like dropbox or onedrive. What is happening with me is terrible. I am trying to copy my data (around 200 gigabytes) into the mycloud device. Normally, when copying those files into another hard drive, it would take me around two hours maximum.
I have been waiting for the copying to finish for almost 13 hours. It still indicates that only less than half the data has so far been copied.
Worse, the copying process is slowing down my internet connection. Although I am copying the files by connecting the PC to the modem and the mycloud to the modem (not remote access), the speed is very very slow. The modem’s internet speed is also affected. It was 16 migabit but now it is 3 migabit because of the transfer. I checked out older posts about slow speed.
None of them worked for me. So, do you think that the mycloud that I purchased is defective? Since the update to firmware 4.0 my drive has become ULTRA SLOW: Copying a single photo (with a size of about 150 KByte only), that needed with the previous version about a tenth of a second, now needs this time on my windows 8.1 PC: • 10 seconds where nothing visible happens (with the exception of an hour glass at the cursor) • 10 further seconds, where windows tells me to calculate “the remaining time” • 10 seconds where nothing happens • 3 seconds for the upload Unbelievable! The same unbearable delays happen, when I try to connect to the the web interface of the drive: • 60 seconds!: nothing, white screen in browser, while the status bar of the browser, showing the success of loading the page, hangs in the middle • the first black screen with the logo apperas - for the next 45 seconds! • the additional text “Access to WD My Cloud” appears and for the next minute again nothing happens • then the start page appears, but with empty sub-frames • after 45 seconds the firmware version appears, after further 60 seconds “Diagnose OK” appears, and so on For me this looks like missing RAM. Maybe all of it is “stolen” by a very poor programmed indexing feature.
I guess, that indexing my 300.000 photos makes the drive running out of memory (RAM), because of a very poor programming. Maybe the programmers forgot a command to release RAM after indexing a media file? If possible I would like to go back to the previos version - doing a hard reset and losing all settings would not be a problem to me. When calling the “top” command, it seems that RAM is NOT the problem, as I was guessing before. I had previously an ordinary cable connecting the computer to the modem. Now I replaced it with CAT6.
The connection has become faster though the ethernet connection is still 100mbps. The shop that made for the me the cable has a Seagate cloud system. It is a three-year old 1.5 TB cloud. But, I noticed that it is incredibly fast even though it is connected through a limited capacity modem-router. I hope that technical support will give us a solution for this issue.
Otherwise, perhaps we need to seek other alternatives instead of wasting time. There is something that needs to be said. In 1997, when I bought my first computer, every shop here in Jordan was boasting in their offers that they give a computer with Western Digitial caviar hard disk. I very strongly trust WD products and hope the technical support will not let me down with this product. My problem started after I did the update (nothing else changed and the speed was fine immediately before I clicked on the update).
You may fondly remember games from 10 or even 20 years ago, but the fact is, by today’s higher standards, most of those classic games aren’t much fun. Game works fine, but has excessive load times. 3 minutes or more. How do i fix this? It’s not a graphics issue, the graphics are gorgeous and smooth. Combat flight simulator 3 battle for europe torrent.
Looked around on the web and found I’m not the only one. I then turned off DLNA etc - still no difference (not that I should have to start playing around with such things). Rebooted - no difference. Left it on overnight and it was back to ‘normal’ next morning. 48 hours later, I turn it on and it’s back to snail pace transfer rates NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Note: I have no interest in being a techo to get a COTS product working! Does anyone actually test these things!?!
After testing and experimenting, I got the following conclusions: • The speed of Mycoud depends on the speed of the whole computer system. This includes: a. The operating system b.
The random access memory RAM c. The modem and router models d. The internet download + upload speeds • In order to make the best use of Mycloud, I believe the following requirements must be met: a. The RAM should not be less than 8GB. In my casem I use a PC. A PC (from experiment) needs to be a Windows 64 bit. This is faster than 32 and it recognises a RAM bigger than 4GB.
